The Starfish Story

Monday Apr 27, 2009

I have read a story which was originally written by  Loren Eisley and I want to share them to you.

The Starfish Story

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, What are you doing?
The youth replied, Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.
Son, the man said, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You cant make a difference!
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said
I made a difference for that one.

This story reminds us that each of us has been gifted with the ability to make a difference in the world. When we can become aware of that gift, we gain strength through our visions and develop the power to shape the future. We must each find our starfish. And if we throw our stars wisely and well, the world will be blessed.
It is my desire to use the gifts, talents, and opportunities that the Lord has given me to "make a difference for that one" – whoever it may be. It is not for me to decide who, but to simply obey the direction of my Lord Jesus Christ.
It has taken me many years to realize that God really does use broken vessels like myself. I did not have the courage or faith to believe that God truly had a plan for me that involved serving others. I have always claimed Jeremiah 29:11 as my "favorite scripture", but it is only now being fully realized and understood in my spirit.
But God REALLY does have a plan for me (and you) that gives me hope and a future, a plan for good – a plan to make a difference for others. A mission to reach out to others, as the boy along the beach, and gently help them back into the ocean of God’s love, mercy and grace.

Know our gifts from God and use them only for the GLORY OF GOD. God bless you in Jesus Name

Belated Happy Birthday Kuya Noel!

Friday Apr 24, 2009

Last April 19 was my Kuya Noel’s birthday! He is 1 year older than me. I was not able to greet him on the day of his birthday because we were busy packing our things for vacation. Now we are here in Cavite with my parents.

I often call him Noel then, because he “looks younger than me especially when we were small. We went to the same school in elementary, in highschool our schools are facing each other, in college we also attended the same school, but he decided to transfer to another college that’s why we graduated from different college.

This brother of mine is really into sports especially basketball. He’s a real fan of basketball. His favorite team was Purefoods and his favorite player was “Jolas”. I remember him getting mad at me especially when i talk to him while he is watching basketball games on tv. Being a fanatic, he is also good at playing basketball, until now that he is already in UK.

He is very blessed having a real nice wife “Mary Grace” and two lovely kids Emmanuel Craig and Daniella Grace. We promised each other that we will have our vacation this December but unfortunately, I think it will not push thru. I hope that we will be able to chat with each other more often.

I had fond memories with this brother of mine. I don’t know if he still remember the time when he would let me bring his “bugong” (packed lunch) in school and he would get it from me during lunch time. After finishing his bugong he would bring the container to me and ask money from me :)   . But it’s fine with me now. It just makes me laugh when I remember these experiences with my siblings. I really miss them so much. I love them all. I do pray God will give all of us the provision to see each other. I am so happy that I am with my family now. Hope to be there in Batangas in a couple of days.

Before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KUYA NOEL!!! You are so blessed :) .

Does Anybody Hear Her

Sunday Apr 12, 2009

Do we see the people around us in need of our help? Are we sensitive enough to see their needs. Let us  show our love to others by sharing God’s love, by sharing God’s Words. Let us not keep the love of God for ourselves.

Does Anybody Hear Her by Casting Crowns

She is running
A hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
She is trying
But the canyon’s ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She’s another two years older
And she’s three more steps behind

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she’s going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that’s tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

She is yearning
For shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching
For a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
And in walks her prince charming
And he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason
And she gives herself away

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she’s going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that’s tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can’t see past her scarlet letter
And we’ve never even met her

If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can’t see past her scarlet letter
And we’ve never even met her

If Judgement looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can’t see past her scarlet letter
And we’ve never even met her

Never even met her
(Never Even Met her)

(OHHHHH)Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she’s going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that’s tucked away in you and me

Does anybody hear her? (Does anybody hear her?) Does anybody see? (Does anybody See?)
Does anybody even know she’s going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple (shadow of her steeple)
With all the lost and lonely people (Lost and Lonely people)
Searching for the hope that’s tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?

He is running a hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction

Let us not take them for granted. Let us share God’s love. Lat us lead them to the light of God.

PERSEVERANCE

Wednesday Apr 1, 2009

This poem of encouragement is written by Jennifer Kulp for all the precious souls with cancer.
Perseverance

PERSEVERANCE

Lord, my spirit is willing,
But my flesh is so weak;
God, every day I cry out to you,
Yet I don’t hear you speak.

I’ve been beaten so many times.
You know what I’ve been through;
I can’t overcome this giant.
Yet it’s the only thing I must do.

I fought this trial too many times.
I used all the strength in me;
Yet I lost in every battle,
And once again I’m not free.

Lord, I’m tempted to just call it quits,
And lay here on the ground;
I will let the giant win again.
I have fought too many rounds.

As I am now at my lowest,
Tears flow down my cheeks;
I cry out to God again,
“Jesus, I am just too weak!”

Suddenly I felt my body
Being lifted up by my Lord;
He helped me back on my feet,
And said, “Lets do this once more.”

I stood up to that giant,
And fought as hard as I could;
He used old tactics to make me give up.
Yet he only thought I would.

I was determined to not back down.
I had been here long enough;
It’s not the number of times I get hit.
It’s the number of times I get up.
